The following document is a Widow's Declaration for Pension given by Rachel Wallace on August 3,
1894 as the wife of the deceased Thomas Wallace. He was a private in the 33rd USCT Company I. Her
maiden name was Rachel Williams and that they were married in Beaufort South Carolina by Rev
Woodriff (a Baptist minister). He husband Thomas Wallace died in Jacksonville on July 5, 1894 of an
abscess in his left side and general debility and was paid his pension up to May 4. She also states that
Thomas Wallace had no children under 16 years of age at the time of his death and that she is without
other means of support than her daily labor. Benjamin Wright and Sarah King, J. H. Williams and P
Clark were witnesses to the document.
