My dear Sir.

I am impelled by a strong sense of duty to express my great satisfaction with your proclamation declaring void Genl.
Hunter's supposed declaration as to the slaves of Georgia, Florida and South Carolina.2

Continue I pray you in your policy of maintaining the Constitution. It is our only rock of safety. A grateful Country will
in return give you its approval, and its encreased confidence and love.

Most truly and sincerely

Your friend.

Alexander T. Stewart
