Return to Dr. Bronson's St. Augustine
History
Sheriff Perry and Sam English
Sheriff C. J. Perry is still getting in good work. This time Sam English, colored, who was committed to
mail in the latter part of 1885 on two charges for assault and attempting to kill Henriette and Frederick
Williams in this city, and who escaped the following January, has been followed up by Sheriff Perry
and is found at last within the hospitable mansion of Sheriff Broward's baliwick. Sheriff Perry will
escort the 'chappie' to this city in the morning. He will also give his attention to one William Jones, who
was convicted at the last circuit term in the county on charge of larceny and got off with a $20 fine.
Another larceny of a gold watch is hanging up over here, which Sheriff Broward is entertaining him on
a similar charge.
