Harry H. Flagler, Son of Florida's Developer, Dies

Harry Harkness Flagler, 81, son of Henry M. Flagler, developer of Florida's east coast, died
yesterday in his physician's office in New York City.

Born into wealth, he showed little interest in finance but turned his attention to music. At one time he
was president of the Symphony Society of New York and then of the Philharmonic-Symphony
Society. He was a native of Cleveland, Ohio.

His father, Henry M. Flagler, an associate of the elder John D. Rockefeller in the original incorporation
of the Standard Oil Company, came to St. Augustine before the turn of the century to build the Florida
East Coast Railway and a string of tourist hotels extending to Key West.

Surviving are three daughters; Mrs. Melbert B. Cary, Jr., of New York, Mrs. Flagler Harris of
Philadelphia, and Mrs. Flagler Matthews of Rye, N. Y.
