This document is the General Affidavit of James H. Hill for Hester Jenkins the wife of Abram Lancaster. James Hill was a fellow veteran with Abram Lancaster of the 33rd USCT Company F. He
states that he knew Abram since he was about 10 or 11 years old and that Abram was only married to Hester. He specifically uses the word "lawful."

State of Florida, County of Duval, In the matter of Hester, Widow of Abram Lancaster Pvt. Co. "F", 33rd U.S.C. Inft.

Personally came before me, a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County and State, James H. Hill, aged 68 years, citizen of the town of
Jacksonville 330 Weare St. County of Duval, State of
Florida, well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to aforesaid case, as follows:

I knew Abram Lancaster in my younger days we were boys together, and he was about 10 or 11 years of age; he and I grew up together. We enlisted together at St. Augustine and served in the
same company and regiment. Abram had not been married to any one before he enlisted, and remained a single man until the close of the war when he married the claimant Hester, whose name was
Jenkins. She is the only lawful wife Abram ever had. I further declares that I have no interest in said case and am not concerned in its prosecution.
