Aged Negro Woman Dies
Was 105 Years old at time of death
Passed away last Sunday at Picolata in her youth was a slave of the Dupont Family

The Record correspondent at Picolata writes of the death of Cloe Job, a colored woman, who
undoubtedly was the oldest resident of St. Johns county. She had passed the century mark by five
years when the grim reaper gathered her in.

Her death occured on last Sunday at Picolata, and despite her 105 years she had been active up to a
short period before her last illness.

In her youth she was owned by the Dupont family well known in this county. She was married to
George Job, a slave owned by the de Westenburgs.

The old woman's age is authentically established, and speaks well for the healthfulness of this section.

There are many aged negroes in St. Johns county and their vitality is surprising. Many who have seen
from three to four score years are still earning their, won living at laborious work.
