| For the Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Indian River Railroad. St. Augustine, Fla., May 5 –(Special.)—The new board of officers for the Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Indian River railway are: President, Henry M. Flagler; vice president, J. R. Parrott; secretary, J. C. Slater; treasurer, S. W. Crichlow. The directors are H. M. Flagler, Harry Harkness Flagler, A. Anderson, J. E. Ingraham and J. R. Parrott. Land Commissioner Ingraham, of the Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Indian River railway, returned here yesterday with Dr. H. Thomas, W. S. Linton, members of congress, and C. E. Linton, of Saginaw, Mich., from Lake Worth, where they have been prospecting for lands, having in view the colonization of a million acres of railway and canal lands. They were astonished that the late cold weather had not ruined the pineapples or orange trees south of Eden, and were convinced by what they saw in the bountiful vegetable crops that the east coast of Florida is the place for thrifty settlers. The White City colony thrives beyond expectations. Atlantic Constitution May 6, 1895 |
